Dog Escape Artist - On Video

Some dogs just like to test their owners. You build taller fences, you stake down the fence line, and there is always that dog that will come along and prove you wrong. The problem with escape artist dogs is that you can’t call them dumb because they can figure out how to get out of just about any where. Check out this video:

Humane Society Videotapes Sick Cows At Cattle Auction Site

The humane society has in their possession a videotape that they shot at a cattle auction site showing sick cows and cows being treated poorly. Here is the story about the event right here. Animal lovers every where are very appreciative that there are groups out there looking out for ways people are mistreating animals so they can be brought to justice. This one here is also a health issue, if sick cows are being sold at auction that could present issues down the road for people who come in contact with the milk or meat.

Reliable Lighting Can Help Keep An Eye On Your Dog

Losing things isn’t fun, but it happens to all of us, especially in the dark. Every dog owner, at one time or another, has been in a position where they’ve let their furry friend out to take a bathroom trip in the dark. It doesn’t matter that they always come back in, sometimes there are still moments where you worry. Plus in the case of some dogs, especially puppies, you may worry about what they’re doing and where they are in the dark. Only one thing can appease those fears, good lighting.

If you check out Magnalight.com, you’ll find a great selection of lighting like boat spot lights, police lights, spotlights, 24 volt military lights, remote control lights, and more. The great thing about lights from Magnalight.com are that they are not only unique and of high quality, but they are extremely reliable too. There are few things worse than being in the dark, going to get the light you depended on, and having it not work. That is not what happens with these quality lights.

So avoid losing your favorite pooch during those midnight potty breaks. You will always know where they are if you have a well lit backyard or if you are armed with a good handheld flashlight. You can even teach your dog to respond to flashlight commands… now, that would be cool.

Great Idea From The Kansas Humane Society

Here is a great idea, straight from the Kansas Humane Society. They’re allowing people to submit their photos of them and their pet to be included in their calendar for 2009. The theme of the calendar is “Pets and their people”. Way to go!

Hacienda Style Decorating Made Easy

There are many different styles of home decorating and each one appeals to a certain segment of the population. When it comes time to look for sources for quality home decor products, stay away from the big box stores and go to the best source available for your style of decorating. Leaving the job to people who specialize in that material just makes sense.

Personally, I am a big fan of hacienda style Mexican decor. A great source for this material is SaltilloTileConnection.com. They have everything you need and the site is laid out in a very easy to use manner that there is no need to go somewhere else. The tile selection alone is a great reason to check out their website. They provide tons of information on saltillo tile installation and it all just reassures you that you’ve come to the right place.

Using a few of the different styles of tile that they have, I think our place will be completely transformed. Some of these tiles cannot only be used as the main feature of a bathroom, kitchen, or entryway, but also can be used as a way to accent a room as well. It is just a wonderful selection of product.

Once we get this hacienda style fully implemented… then I’ll get a Chihuahua puppy to finish off the effect.

What Does A Puppy Mill Look Like?

Many people hear the term “puppy mill” and they aren’t sure what one would look like. They think, how bad could it be? People couldn’t really treat dogs that bad, could they? The answer is yes. In most puppy mills, breeders have stacked cages that are far too small for the dogs inside, many times more than one dog shares a cage that isn’t large enough for just one dog to be comfortable in. Dog lovers should know that continued purchasing of dogs from high end pet stores that get their puppies from puppy mills only encourages this process to continue.

So, what does a puppy mill look like? Look at this image below:

If you are a dog lover, your heart is probably breaking right now. Only fellow dog lovers can stop this. Insist on buying, and spread the word about buying also, only from reputable dog breeders. Also look into adopting from your local Humane Society or similar organization. Even if you are a breed specific buyer, say you only buy Dobermans for example, many of these organizations allow you to put your name on a list so that you would receive a phone call whenever a Doberman came through.

The only way puppy mills will cease to exist is if people stop buying from them, whether they realize they are or not.

Learn About Dog Allergies Online

Like their human masters, dogs can also suffer from allergies. While they lack the ability to communicate and tell us exactly what is the problem, paying careful attention to their behavior and physical appearance is a great way to pick up on many of our pets’ health problems. Allergies in dogs can manifest themselves in a number of ways and can include everything from pest allergies to dog food allergies.

There are a number of signs to look for to determine if our dogs do indeed have allergy problems.

Physical Indications
When suffering from allergies, many dogs will exhibit sores, growths, or rashes.

Internal Indications
Dogs may develop kidney or liver problems, as well as weakened immune systems because of allergies.

Active Indications
When an allergy is affecting a dog, they can show signs that would be similar to what a human would show due to allergies, including sneezing and runny noses.

Kennel cough and other dog health issues like allergies can be learned about online at sites like Dog-Allergies.blogspot.com. The more pertinent and accurate information we have when dealing with our dog’s health, the better life our pets will lead. The selection of the correct dog allergy medications can make a great deal of difference in our pets’ quality of life. Take an active role in your pet’s health today.
